Internship Fair


Anderson School of Management's Career Services will be holding an Internship Fair on Wednesday, January 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Jackson Student Center. This fair will help connect Anderson BBA and MBA students with employers from a variety of business disciplines who are offering internships.  The event is open to all Anderson students; professional dress is suggested.

Advisement Announces Changes For 2016


The Anderson Advisement and Career Services Center is excited to announce changes in advisement for the spring semester.  Undergraduate advisors will now see students from orientation to graduation based upon student last names.  The new alphabet distribution and speed advising hours are included below.  Also, we will be offering extended advisement hours on Wednesdays until 7:00 p.m. for undergraduate and graduate students! Spring Internship Fair

Student-Employer Networking at Anderson

On September 17, UNM Anderson held a Student & Employer Network Reception, which provided an opportunity for students to visit informally with employer representatives recruiting at UNM's Business and Accounting Fair.  This 'no pressure, no lines' catered reception was open to Anderson students who attended at least two of the Career Services Week workshops.

The Dress For Success: Making a Great First Impression workshop, sponsored by Collegiate DECA and Anderson Career Services, and facilitated by Banana Republic professionals, offers men and women advice and steps they can take to transform their professional brand.

There are not many events you’ll attend in college that have the potential to change your life, but the September 18, 2014 Business & Accounting Job and Internship Fair is one such opportunity. Bringing together more than 80 employers from a diverse range of industries, offering entry-and mid-level positions, as well as internships, this event is the largest and most robust offering of the year.

Public Speaking Assistance

This semester, Sarah Minnich will continue Anderson School of Management’s Public Speaking Coach duties.

Sarah is a student at UNM, pursuing a Masters degree in Interpersonal Communication. Sarah works as both a TA in the department of Communication and Journalism, and as a SAG-AFTRA actress in pursuit of a screen-acting career.

Throughout the coming semester, Sarah will provide Public Speaking support to ASM students or groups of students.

New Director Of Advisement: Tracy Wilkey

Anderson School of Management is pleased to announce that Tracy Wilkey is the new director of Advisement and Career Services.

Tracy brings more than 8 years of professional experience in student advocacy to her new role. As an enthusiastic champion of higher education and development for Anderson students, Tracy provides an integrated approach to academic advising, simultaneously promoting dual paths of academic and career achievement.

Prior to her position at Anderson, Tracy worked with the Global Business Program for the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, as well as a math instructor for middle school students in Tucson.  She has experience fundraising for a children’s charity in New York City and as an admissions counselor for the University of Idaho. Tracy believes that students are the drivers of their own success, and that with the right level of support and encouragement, students can accomplish their goals.

Tracy graduated with her Bachelor degrees in Economics and French from the University of Arizona.

Career Services News

During the spring 2014 semester, 101 employer partners visited the Anderson campus to connect with and recruit Anderson undergraduate and graduate students.   512 students took advantage of these professional development opportunities, including a Summer Internship Fair, Business Etiquette Dinner, and four industry-specific networking events. 

The January Internship Fair for BBA and MBA/MACCT students hosted 30 employers with 100+ summer internship opportunities available to Anderson students.  Throughout March and April, over 150 jobs and internship opportunities were made available to students and alumni as a result of our four industry networking events.

Anderson Increases Visibility On Twitter


Anderson School of Management is rising in the ranks of social media.

Graduates from the Anderson School are encouraged to tweet during the graduation ceremony. According to statistics compiled by Project Assistant Nicole Capehart, Anderson's graduation visibility on Twitter increased substantially this spring from its initial emergence in 2013, and that includes a large uptick in the number of Twitter followers.

Anderson Industry Networking Events



Anderson Career Services invites employer partners and professionals to attend one or more of its spring Industry Networking Events.

You’ll meet Anderson undergraduate and graduate students and alumni and have the opportunity to connect with talent, promote your company/profession and encourage the next generation of business leaders.  This is not a job fair; you don’t need to have job or internship openings to participate, although many organizations will use this event to source new talent!  Throughout the event, employers and students will have the opportunity to casually network and enjoy a catered lunch.

Dining For Success

Anderson School of Management students are invited to join etiquette professional Jackie Ingle as she prepares you to project a polished and professional image during networking receptions and interviews with meals. You’ll enjoy a complimentary three-course meal with local business employers and learn how to outdistance your competition with courteous behavior.

The event takes place in the SUB Ballroom on Thursday, February 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Internship Fair

 
On Thursday, January 30th at the Jackson Student Center, Anderson School of Management's Career Services hosted a BBA/MBA/MACCT Fair. Well over one hundred internship opportunities were available to the 218 students who attended the Fair; during the event, employers, faculty, staff, and students tweeting about the fair and using #MakeHistoryASM, leading to the event trending on Twitter.


Statistics demonstrate that 70% of companies make full-time job offers to extant interns; all Anderson School of Management students are encouraged to take advantage of these extraordinary opportunities.
