Join us as Anderson School of Management's Dr. Jacqueline Hood discusses workplace bullying. Workplace bullying is defined as repeated, malicious, and health-endangering mistreatment of an employee by one or more other employees. Workplace bullying has been associated with negative outcomes for the individual being bullied and for the organization in which such actions take place. This talk will discuss the nature, frequency, and costs of workplace bullying in the context of an organization’s culture, ethical culture, and organizational moral development. Ways that organizations can and should deal with this increasingly common behavior will be proposed.
Bootcamps are opportunities for students to learn hands-on from successful entrepreneurs about various aspects of planning the start and operation of their venture. Each bootcamp introduces you to a progressive building block that is important to the successful development of your business plan venture. You will also have the opportunity to meet with fellow student entrepreneurs and grow your professional network.
UNM Anderson Dean Craig White and Professor Robert Luo recently completed a trip to China. They visited the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, the Southern China University of Technology, and Dongguan University. They were invited by the Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai (BITZ) to attend the "high-table dinner" in honor of the class of freshmen entering the new collaborative program between BITZ and the Anderson School of Management. The initial freshman cohort is 72 students. These students will study for three years at BITZ before completing their BITZ degree at Anderson in their fourth year. All of the classes at BITZ will be taught in English. They will also be coming to UNM to study English language and other classes during the summers. The students will then apply to Anderson's graduate program under the usual admission requirements.

Over time, there will likely be many chances to benefit from these relationships. The Pearl Delta area is one of the most important export/import locations in China. These schools are all strategically located in this area.UNM Andersonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13803374652992639785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4748623385366080442.post-29589341120290998372016-09-27T13:51:00.001-07:002016-09-27T13:51:55.477-07:00Anderson Recognized By U.S. News And World Report

UNM Anderson School of Management was recognized by U.S. News and World Report for the first time in its national list of business schools.

UNM Anderson is tied for the rank of 114 out of the 516 United States undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business and accounting education and is held by less than five percent of the world’s business schools.

The U.S. News ranking is based on the judgements of deans and senior faculty at peer AACSB institutions. Anderson Dean Craig White is pleased that other schools are taking notice of the Anderson School.

“This is an honor because the ranking is a measure of how Anderson is perceived by its peer institutions. Incidentally, the Anderson School is one of only 174 programs world-wide holding both business and accounting accreditation. I believe this duel accreditation status contributes to the recognition of the quality of our programs.”

Dean White is currently working with a partner school in China to bring students to the Anderson School. He says the ranking will help with those efforts.

“Not only will this ranking increase our visibility among U.S. students looking to attend a business school, but it will also help attract international students seeking a well-respected program,” says White.

The U.S. News rankings included both public and private business schools across the country. Dean White says among the public schools UNM Anderson ranked 67th with a score of 2.8 out of 5.

“This study reinforces the fact that New Mexico students can get excellent management education right here at home, without leaving the state. The faculty at UNM Anderson should be commended for getting high marks from their peers at other well-respected schools.”UNM Andersonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13803374652992639785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4748623385366080442.post-68531775124902368352016-09-27T13:51:00.000-07:002016-09-27T13:51:07.685-07:0010th Annual Parker Center For Family Business Symposium

The University of New Mexico's Business Plan Competition strives to turn students into entrepreneurs. This year's event was notable in several respects: not only did more sponsors contribute to the prize pool, raising the total prize amount from $75,000 to $87,000, but for the first time UNM signed a memorandum of understanding with Central New Mexico Community College, partnering with CNM to open the competition up to CNM students.

The competition runs on two tracks: technological, utilizing intellectual property developed by UNM or CNM students or from Sandia National Labs, Los Alamos National Labs, or STC.UNM; and entrepreneurial, a generalist startup competition that does not involve intellectual property. Six technological and twelve entrepreneurial teams competed for six prizes on each track.

This year's top technological prize went to FormaPop. FormaPop's team members Antonio Gutierrez, Scott McFall, and Aundre Huynh have developed an innovative baby bottle attachment that helps the mother by making feeding easier. The bottle's cap contains built-in formula storage for convenience on the go.

The top entrepreneurial prize went to Karuna Colectiva, conceived by Henry “Jake” Foreman.
Karuna Colectiva is a pop-up workshop where students work, learn, earn and apply what they learn from the Cycles of Life learning tools through market-based education.

UNM students from International Business Students Global (IBSG) are heading to the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) conference to gain support for the World Folk Art Movement Project.

CGI U was founded in 2007 by President Clinton with the focus on engaging the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world. Over 1,000 students will come together for CGI U 2016 at the University of California, Berkeley from April 1-3, 2016 to concentrate on making a difference in CGI U's five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, and Public Health.

IBSG's commitment to action is to bring folk art to the Olympic Games to share the stage of excellence and global culture. IBSG’s objective is to promote the value art as a driver of cultural preservation and economic and social development. Holding a folk art market at the Olympic Games would provide opportunities for artists to share their stories and market their products. The folk art market would additionally showcase the direct parallels between art and athletics’ abilities to transcend national borders.
