Dr. Slate earned his BS in Psychology, and his MA and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington. A veteran of the United States Naval Reserve, Dr. Slate joined the faculty of Anderson School of Management in 1967. He was active in community service, serving on the boards of Catholic Social Services, the Nob Hill Main Street Association, and Carrie Tingley Hospital's Strategic Planning Committee among other non-profit concerns. He served as a consultant to various state agencies, professional organizations, and research corporations, and published several books and monographs on economics and marketing. He was a member of the American Economic Association, the American Society for the Advancement of Sciences, and was recognized in American Men of Sciences and Who's Who in American Education.
