Anderson Welcomes UAE Consul General
The United Arab Emirates is one of the US’ strongest allies, and shares a common resolve to preserve security and stability in the Middle East.
The UAE is one of only three countries – and the only Arab nation – to participate in five international coalitions with the US over the last 20 years: the First Gulf War, Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Libya. The two countries’ robust ties also extend to the economy. In 2013, the total trade between the UAE and US topped $26.9 billion, and US exports to the UAE increased by nine percent from 2012 to over $24.6 billion, making the UAE the single largest export market in the Middle East for US goods – a distinction it has now held for the fifth year in a row. Last year, New Mexico exported $5.4 million in goods to the UAE including electronic components and aircraft parts.
UAE Consul General Abdulla Alsaboosi will provide a general overview of the UAE-US bilateral relationship, including political, economic and social-cultural developments within the UAE. He will also offer his thoughts on pressing regional issues from a UAE government perspective.
The event, presented by International Business Students Global, takes place Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Jackson Student Center. The public is welcome.
