Anderson Team At Daniels Fund Competition

UNM Anderson students recently made a strong showing in the Daniels Fund 2014 Ethics Consortium Case Competition in Denver. This year's competition featured teams from eight competing universities answering an ethical dilemma regarding genetic screening. Teams were asked to hypothetically act as a consulting firm for a manager who overhears an employee telling a coworker that she is going to ignore her doctor’s recommendation that she no longer do any heavy lifting.

The UNM Anderson team of Sydney Sivils, Justin Fouts, Houston Hilbun, Mercedes Pratt, James Osterlund, Austin Tidwell, Sharif Amlani, Laura Gruet, and Mariah Rast came in second behind the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs for their case and presentation.

Judges evaluated the teams based on the principles established in the Ethics Initiative, which is modeled after late Colorado businessman Bill Daniels’ beliefs. Those include integrity, trust, accountability, transparency, fairness, respect, rule of law, and viability.
